Caroline Duhesme holds a University Diploma in Agronomy and a Master’s degree in Wood Science and Bio-based Materials from the École Supérieure du Bois (ESB) in Nantes. With 20 years in the tropical forest and timber industry, especially in the Congo Basin, she has developed expertise in sustainable forest management, certification, and ecosystem services.
Since 2004, Caroline has actively contributed to certification systems, advancing sustainable practices in the tropical timber sector. As an independent consultant, she has provided guidance on forest governance, compliance, and advisory services across continents, expanding her focus to include environmental and social funding mechanisms.
In 2017, Caroline joined ATIBT* to support and implement its projects, including FLEGT-REDD initiatives. Now Director of Strategy and Innovation at ATIBT, she oversees strategic initiatives, certification efforts, and sustainable forest management promotion. She also serves as secretary of the ATIBT Certification Commission, specializing in certification.* The ATIBT (International Tropical Timber Technical Association) is an organization dedicated to promoting the sustainable management and responsible trade of tropical forests, supporting certification efforts, and advancing technical knowledge and practices within the tropical timber sector.
